Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero was an American model and singer. She is also co-starring with Prince in his 1984 film, Purple Rain. Kotero was the female lead vocalist for Apollonia 6 and co-starred in Prince's film Purple Rain from 1984. The actress and singer was christened Apollonia by Prince became one of a number of female musicians in the '80s to benefit from her association with Prince, the Purple One. Patricia Kotero began her acting and modeling career in Santa Monica California, in the latter half of the '70s. This included an appearance on CHiPS. As the female protagonist of Prince's Purple Rain was her first performance from 1984. Prince changed the girl's name in this period. She was replaced by Vanity with the female trio Vanity 6 who performed in the movie in the role of Apollonia 6 replacing Vanity. Sex Shooter was a minor achievement for the group however, she had an even bigger effect as the duet partner of Prince on Take Me with You on the soundtrack. Kotero ended her relationship with Prince following a falling apart over the direction of Apollonia 6. The singer then appeared in few minor films in the 1980s (reportedly refusing an opportunity to play in the Purple Rain-follow-up Under the Cherry Moon), before settling on an evening-time part in the drama Falcon Crest in 1985-1986. Apollonia was finally able to release her debut album in 1988. However, the comparatively insignificant collection of songs that incorporated dance/R&B did not be a hit with the music-buying public and the album soon vanished out of sight. During the following decade, she continued to work in the field of acting (if she was a bit under the radar) as well as a couple of TV roles, movies and even an exercise film.
