Awkwafina

American actor and musician Awkwafina debuted with sly rap tracks that tackled sexuality and racial identities with a boldly comedic perspective before increasing her presence in Hollywood. The actress was born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrant parents in Forest Hills Queens her first taste of musician life came via trumpet. Alongside classical music and jazz, she began studying hip-hop in her teens. Concentrating on school she studied journalism as well as women's studies, and was learning Mandarin in Beijing for a stint. The focus changed towards music after she finished her studies. In 2012, My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an online hit, and it was featured in her debut LP Yellow Ranger. The album also contained viral hits like body-positive Queef & winking home tour NYC Bitche$. This track was directly linked into another venture Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, which was published in 2015. She opted to pursue a career as an actor after having completed her two previous projects, as an author and musician. In addition to early shows like Girl Code and Tawk she was also in films such as Neighbors 2, Storks as well as Bad Rap. In 2018, her breakthrough roles included Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. In June she released In Fina We Trust.
